The ProG3 is a processor upgrade offered by Formac. The upgrade came
in two versions a ZIF upgrade and a carrier board for PCI-based Macs.
In both cases the ZIF or carrier card replaces the original CPU ZIF or
card.
These downloads contain a control panel and the manual. The manual is
also available as separate download.
System requirements: Mac OS 7.6 or higher
ZIF Upgrade hardware requirements: A Beige "G3 Classic" or "G3 B&W"
system
Carrier Board Upgrade hardware requirements: Power Macintosh 7300
through 9600
The manual contains important information, such as dip switch settings
for the CPU. These also differ from the "G3 Classic" (beige models)
and the "G3 B&W" (later blue and white towers).
The control panel lets you view the speed of the CPU and L2 cache and
make adjustments.
A note (originally in German) states that the CPU upgrade should work
in Mac OS X without any software:
