FlyakiteOSX is a tansformation pack to transform the look and desktop
theme of Windows XP+ system to the look of Mac OS X. The installer
simply automates the process of replacing critical system files,
setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors,
sounds, visual styles, etc.
In case you are not happy with the results of FlyakiteOSX, everything
is completely removable. Just run the uninstaller from the Start Menu
or from Add/Remove Programs.
FlyakiteOSX does not contain any spyware or ad-ware of any kind. All
files needed for FlyakiteOSX are stored in the Windows directory in a
folder named ?FlyakiteOSX? that is hidden by default. All registry
values for FlyakiteOSX are written to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlyakiteOSX.

## Iceman's XP Mods
In the early days of Windows XP, you could, using modified DLLs from
[iceman's jonmega site][1] theme your Windows XP (no SP or SP1)
installation to look like Mac OS X. Installing the modified DLLs
however, was [a test of patience][2], as each file needed to be
replaced individually.
Unfortunately, time has not been kind to iceman's site (it's been over
20 years), and the Internet Archive has not archived the DLLs for
Windows XP. However some of their work has been incoporated into the
FlyakiteOSX transformation pack, like the sound scheme. Iceman's
Visual Styles for XP are included in the Windows XP Themes download.
## FlyakiteOSX
Sometime later (simultaneously?) "[FlyakiteOSX][3]" appeared. A single
programme/installer that greatly simplified the process of modifying
Windows XP to look like Mac OS X. FlyakiteOSX will not only easily
patch everything for you with one simple installer (regardless of XP
version or language), but also comes with additional extras, skins,
softwares, and tweaks for making other programmes look and behave like
Mac OS X, including:
* System file monitor that will check if Windows has modified any
patched files, and repatch them for you
* Mac OS X like boot screen
* Mac OS X like login screen
* Flurry screen saver
* Tiger System Preferences (a program that mimics Tiger's System
Preferences)
* Y'z Shadow (for OS X window shadows)
* RK Launcher (emulates a dock)
* iColorFolder
* Aqua and Tiger visual styles (also included in XP Themes download)

Download #1 is FlyakiteOSX v3.5. Windows 10 may prevent this version
from downloading as it could be considered a trojan.

Download #2 is FlyakiteOSX v3 which patches 262 files and comes with
multiple programmes. It has been taken from a working Windows XP SP2
German installation. It also includes a script and documentation for
making an unattended installation of FlyakiteOSX.

Download #3 is FlyakiteOSX v2 "Normal Edition".
Taken from the [Internet Archive][4] of an originally linked mirror on
16.08.2023. Untested.
Download #4 is FlyakiteOSX v2 "Special Edition". The Special Edition
is intended for Simplified Chinese users, users with Asian Text
Characters installed, or anyone that has experienced the shell32.dll
memory allocation problem. The only difference with the special
version is that the icons in shell32.dll only go up to 48x48 pixels in
size. This way the final size of shell32.dll is less than 9mb, and
fixes the memory problems.
Taken from the Internet Archive of an originally linked mirror on
16.08.2023. Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 has flagged this file as
potentially dangerous. Untested.
Download #5 is a Universal Theme Patcher v1.3 that was hosted on the
original website, and downloaded from the [Internet Archive][5] on
16.08.2023. There may be newer versions available elsewhere.
Download #6 is a collection of Windows XP themes, that are also
compatible with Wine, but also nicely compliment FlyakiteOSX. Included
is a Aqua (Puma/Jaguar theme), iTunes (brushed metal), Jaguar Aqua,
Jaguar Brushed, X (later OS X), and Tiger (included with FlyakiteOSX),
among others. The system uxtheme.dll must be patched before these
themes will appear as selectable themes in Windows XP. Wine will
happily use them.

### How Do I Install FlyakiteOSX?
Installing the program is easy. ~~Simply download the package from
our[download][7] page~~. This file is 25.8 MB in total so it might
take a while for 56k connection users to download. After you have
finished downloading, follow instructions from the setup wizard or
these few steps listed below.
* Make sure that you have enough disk space to install the program.
* Execute FlyakiteOSX2.0.exe
* Choose your language preference. There are currently over 42
language preference for installion.
* Read and Accept the terms.
* Check the components you would like to install. Default (Create
Restore Point, System Files, Extras, Skins, Registry Tweaks) is
recommended and will take up 191.8MB of space but you will get the
full features. However, you can also customize yourself by ticking
off the checkboxes.
* You can also choose to customize the MSN Messenger skins for
version 7.x Skins. Note that the skins are still not compatible
with MSN Messenger 7 Final .
* Choose extra softwares such as RK Launcher ( Allows visually
pleasing bar at the side of the screen that is used to quickly
launch shortcuts), ObjectDock ( Lets you organize your short-cuts
and running tasks onto an extremely customizable dock that sits on
your desktop), WinRoll, iColorFolder and Y'z Shadow. Recommended
to choose RK Launcher and all three of the above.
* Click Install and you are done. You have to restart you computer
after the installation is done.
### I See Error Messages During Installation
If you encounter error messages during installation, there is nothing
to worry about if the final installation is complete and a message
pops up to ask you to reboot your computer.
### How do i customize FlyakiteOSX
After successful reboot, you will see instantly your new desktop theme
in a Max OS X mode. Besides, you can customize your FlyakiteOSX by
going to Start Menu > All Programs > FlyakiteOSX > FlyakiteOSX
Settings. Current version allows you turn or of turn off the settings
such as OS X Cursors, Iceman Sounds, Flurry Screensaver, Panther
Visual Style, Tiger Visual Style, ObjectDock, RKLauncher, Y'z Shadow,
WinRoll. You can also change the sizes of the icons from 32 to 128.
This step requires reboot though.
### How do I Uninstall the Program?
Removing the software pack is as easy as 123. Go to Start Menu >
Control Panel > Add or Remove Progams and find FlyakiteOSX. Click on
Remove and follow the instructions.
### HELP! My Computer is Screwed Up After Using FlyakiteOSX!
If you encounter error messages after removing the programs or after
using the program, need not panic as everything is reversible. This
program automatically creates a restore point where you can restore
everything to an earlier time, before you installed the program. Go to
Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System
Restore. Click on Restore My Computer to an earlier time and choose
the date in bold. This process will restore your computer system to an
earlier time before you installed FlyakiteOSX.
