ExpanDrive an application for Mac OS X, based in part on MacFUSE, that
lets you mount SFTP servers as volumes in the Finder. ExpanDrive's
interface consists of a Drive Manager window called ExpanDrive and a
system-wide menu bar item. ExpanDrive 1.1 and later are scriptable
using AppleScript. Support for FTP and FTPS was added with version
1.3.
> For many typical tasks, ExpanDrive is far more convenient and
> seamless than a standalone client like [Interarchy][1] or
> [Transmit][2]. You don?t have to worry about uploading or
> downloading, it works more like a USB flash drive ? you just save
> and open files directly. If you open remote files checked out of an
> SVN (or other revision control system) repository, you can use the
> built-in SVN commands in BBEdit or TextMate, just as though the
> files were part of a repository checked out on your local drive.

For information on using ExpanDrive see the [ExpanDrive user guide
2008][4]. This web-based guide is also uploaded here as a manual
entry.
Note: ExpanDrive will install or update MacFUSE files in
/Library/Filesystems, /Library/Frameworks, /usr/local/include,
/usr/local/lib, and /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig if necessary.

Compatibility
Architecture: PPC x86 (Intel:Mac)
Universal binary for PPC/Intel Macs
G4, G5 or Intel Mac
Mac OS X 10.4.1 at least
Despite the good reviews back in the day, these 1.x versions of
ExpanDrive appear to have limited compatibility with SFTP servers in
today's world. Later versions work much better.
