Exif Viewer is a lightweight, super neat image and thumbnail browser
for the Mac. If you drag an application's icon (Photoshop for example)
onto the "Registered Application" icon in Exif Viewer's main window
lower left corner, clicking thumbnails in Exif Viewer will then open
in that application for editing. Exif Viewer has basic file editing in
its own right and has a good slide-show mode too.
* DL #1: Exif Viewer v1.1.2 only, in a StuffIt 3.6 ".sit" archive,
for English, French, German and Japanese systems.
* DL #2: Includes Exif Viewer v1.1.2, DP Editor, plus PDF manuals
(German, French, English).
This software was bundled with a Nikon camera in 2000. It is suited
for JPEG and TIFF viewing. Although it is also fine for PICT RGB image
formats and accepts memory cards from any camera or browse files on
any local or networked drive.
Despite the word "french" in DL #2's file name and "FR" in the Exif
Viewer's name once extracted, The Exif Viewer applications in either
download are exactly the same. That is, depending on your Mac's main
language, Exif Viewer will be supported natively by one of these four
languages: English, French, German, Japanese. The menus and buttons
will be displayed in either of those four language groups depending on
the installed Mac OS language version running on your Mac.
Note: If you have however also installed Japanese alongside of your
own native language, the Japanese character set will take precedence
over all menus in Exif Viewer.
A workaround if this occurs and you would prefer the menus to be in
your own native language; Open Exif Viewer with ResEdit and change the
"vers" Resource ID's, 1 & 2 Country Codes from the default 14 - Japan
to your native language Country Code, e.g.; 00 - USA and save. This
will ensure that the correct menus are displayed for your preferred
language group.
Compatibility
Architecture: PPC
Requires a PPC Macintosh, Mac OS 8.1 to 9.2.2 and QuickTime 4.0 or
newer, for full functionality.
The Exif Viewer runs fine on SheepShaver. Also runs fine in Classic
mode, on OS X systems.
The DP Editor included in with DL #2, is not compatible with
SheepShaver (hard crashes the emulation).
