EightyRez(TM), the editor for Macintosh 'aete' resources.
EightyRez is now freeware!!!
What is EightyRez for?
In order to create scriptable applications, you have to create
AppleScript dictionaries, which are implemented as 'aete' and 'aeut'
resources. So far there has been no really satisfactory way to create
and edit these complex resources. EightyRez will fill this vacuum,
making it easier for developers to create their dictionaries.
How does EightyRez work?
EightyRez displays resources as collapsible outlines. Top-level items
are suites, each suite has subheads for events, classes, comparison
operators, and enumerations, and these have subheads for their various
elements. Entire suites or single elements can be cut and pasted as
units. Pop-up menus save you from having to remember all the strange
little four-character codes which define your dictionary.
EightyRez can query running applications for their dictionaries. This
is very useful with applications which build their dictionaries on the
fly.
Resources may be saved as separate files, inserted into existing
files, written out as text dictionaries, or converted to Rez format.
How can I get EightyRez?
Simply click here to download. Use Stuffit or Stuffit Expander to
decompress the archive into any suitable folder. The first time you
run EightyRez, you will be prompted for a serial number. Use the
number 12228444.
A manual is included in PDF format.
