This is Desktop Reset* from Salient Software. It is a Copyrighted
freeware utility. To use the INIT just place it drag it to your system
folder and restart your mac. As the mac is booting hold down the
Command & Option keys and you will see a dialog asking if your sure
you want to reset the desktop. If you answer reset the you will get
another dialog to let you know if the desktop was successfully reset
or not. If it was then the Finder* will rebuild the desktop when
it comes up. Because the desktop database is deleted the Finder*
is forced to make a new one instead of trying to repair a defective
one.
