Data Rescue II is data recovery software for recovering files from a
problem hard drive or files that have been previously deleted. Data
Rescue II works when other tools fail. It is also completely safe to
use since it does not attempt any risky repairs to the drive while its
scanning. A destination drive that you will recover your files to can
be any mountable drive or network volume with suitable capacity to
accommodate all your recovered data. Network functions are not
available while booted from the Data Rescue Emergency Boot CD/DVD
however.

Version 1.0 was released in 2005 as a PPC application. It became a
Universal Binary in 2006 with version 1.1. Both 1.0 and 1.1 were
optimised for Tiger but would run in Panther and Jaguar. The downloads
here for v. 1.2.2 were distributed on a Leopard-based DVD in 2009.

Download #1 contains a disc image of a bootable Emergency Install DVD
containing Mac OS X 10.5.6 and v. 1.2.2 of the application.

Download #2 contains just the Data Rescue II software (v. 1.2.2).

Download #3 contains a disc image of a bootable Emergency Install CD
containing v. 1.1.1 of the application.

If you find that the Emergency disc is not bootable after you burn it
using your favourite imaging & burning software, I suggest that you
burn the disc from the Finder instead (select the disc image then
choose Burn from the Finder File menu). I have tested that bootable
discs can be obtained using the disc images in downloads 1 and 3
above.
