DART (Disk Archive/Retrieval Tool) was an internal to Apple and
Developers only, disk archiving software. Like Disk Copy 4.2, DART can
create byte for byte disk images of floppy disk media. It also uses
compression enabling much smaller file sizes.
Unlike Disk Copy 4.2, DART was never licensed for public distribution
and remained largely unknown outside of Apple circles.
* DL #1: DART 1.5.3, the final version from 1993, in a StuffIt
".sit" archive.

archive.
* Features:
* Duplicates Macintosh, Lisa, Apple II, or MS-DOS disks, save disk images, and create disks from image files.
* Data compression: more disk images can be archived in the same amount of space.
* Data checksumming for reliable disk duplication.
* Can read Disk Copy 4.2 image files.
* Requires only 224K of RAM to run.
* Stack utility enables you to batch-convert DART 1.4 or Disk Copy 4.2 files.
* Apple events support ("required" AE suite and custom 'cnvt' event.)
* System 7 "drag-and-drop" disk image creation.
* 32-bit clean.
* A/UX compatible.
* Compatibility with AV Macs (new for DART version 1.5.3).
* Nifty color icons and balloon help.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k
DART can run on some emulators such as Basilisk II (build 142,
Windows) and Mini vMac with limited success.
Requires actual hardware with internal floppy disk drives for 100%
compatibility.
DART does not mount disk images, including those created by DART.
