Maxima lets you turn spare memory into a bootable, non-volatile RAM
disk, whose contents can survive a reboot, shutdown, or crash (if not
an unexpected power interruption). In the PPC-native version 3.0, the
RAM disk can be transparently compressed using Connectix's RAM Doubler
technology.

Maxima also offers an enhanced 24-bit addressing mode, in which up to
14 MB of RAM (rather than 8 MB) can be used as main memory while
retaining access to programs that aren't 32-bit clean. RAM above 14 MB
can be used as a Maxima RAM disk.

The version 3.0 installer will not run from a hard drive or mounted
disk image. Use Download #3 to run the installer from your hard drive.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k PPC

Supported on Systems 6.0.5 through 7.1.x.

[According to Connectix][2], the "Load Aliased INITs and Fonts" option
can cause crashes at startup in System 7.5.x. As such, unchecking that
option makes Maxima compatible with 7.5.x.
