Part of the much larger Developer Tools suite, Apple's Computer
Hardware Understanding Developer Tools (CHUD Tools) were designed to
allow you to effectively measure and optimize the performance of
PowerPC Mac systems running Mac OS X.

CHUD applies several low level performance monitors and editors which
slow your computer down some! If you stop or aren't using CHUD you
should uninstall it all using the CHUD Remover applet(s). There are
many versions of CHUD Remover that don't always expunge all the many
files from the many versions of CHUD, so, what you can do to ensure
total removal of any CHUD version is Run Multiple Versions of CHUD
Remover. CHUD 3.x uses Remover v1 (from 3.0.1) and Remover v2 (from
3.5.2 thought to be the highest v3.x).

One wellworn use for CHUD is to gain control over enabling/disabling
CPU Nap Mode especially some Dual CPU models in which Apple made the
default no napping. Without napping enabled, a G4 CPU draws maximum
power and produces maximum heatlevel regardless of cpu % usage.

1st download: CHUD Tools 3.5.2 dmg dated June 2004
2nd download: An AppleScript that automatically enables Nap at startup
on Dual Processor MDD machines. Doesn't work with 10.5 Leopard (see
included readme for details).
3rd download: CHUD Tools 3.0.0 dmg dated Sept 2003
4th download: CHUD Tools 3.0.1 dmg dated Dec 2003
The title page of the 3.0.1 installer didn't get updated, it says
3.0.0 & Sept still.

Compatibility
Architecture: PPC

Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3
If 10.4 & 10.5 then I'd recommend Tools 4.x
