Distributed by MacSense in early 1996 as "CacheControl 1.02
MacSense", CacheControl is a system Control Panel, used for
configuring and setting L2 Cache in Power Macs only. It was originally
sourced from the CD image:
MacSense_Feb-96.toast (651.99 MB), as found [on this MacSense
page][1].
If CacheControl it doesn't detect or find a L2 Cache ?it gives a
"Cannot be used on this Macintosh" error message if you double click
the icon.
It also checks only on 601, 603, and 604 CPU's and given the 1995
creation date, it predates G3/G4 CPU's
?My G3 Mac also gets a "Cannot be used on this Macintosh" error (and
gets a red cross stripe through its icon at boot time).
It is not to be confused with the similarly named [CacheControl
(1989)][2].
Compatibility
Architecture: 68k
68k encoded, but for use in PPC Macintosh, only.
Not suitable for use in emulators, or Macs without a L2 Cache
installed.
Only suitable for Macs with a 601, 603, or 604 CPU and a L2 cache.
