AudioCatalyst is the first commercial audio CD to MP3 ripper and
encoder available for the Macintosh. It is based on Oliver Dreer's
MPEG Audio Creator, and combines his ripper with Xing's MP3 Encoder to
bring you one of the fastest and most complete MP3 creation products
anywhere.

As is implied above, AudioCatalyst for Macintosh is *not* a port of
our PC product, though it shares most of the same features and the
same basic encoding engine.

The Mac version of AudioCatalyst includes new features such as both
analogue and digital ripping, the ability to listen to a song as it is
being encoded, and the ability to save files in MP3 or AIFF format.

Xing was bought later by RealNetworks in 2000 and later abandoned by
Real.
