PersonToPerson is a network chat and messaging program that allows
Macintosh users to communicate remotely over an AppleTalk network via
"point-to-point" communication. Aimed at enterprise and business
users, many of the features are geared towards those working on a
large office network.

PersonToPerson is installed as a desk accessory, allowing it to be run
alongside an open application in System 6 in the event MultiFinder is
turned off.

PersonToPerson was originally offered as a 2-user "TwinPack", a
10-user "10 pack", and an unlimited-users-per-network-zone "zone
pack". Exceeding the number of allowed users causes subsequent
installations to operate in a temporary evaluation mode that only
lasts for 24 hours.

PersonToPerson includes the following functions: Electronic Messaging,
a Notepad, a Calendar, file attachments, Voice Messages, "Text Phone"
(a form of network chat via telephone, akin to modern SMS, but limited
to users on the network), Message Inbox & Outbox, "In/Out Board"
(displays current user statuses across the network), a screensaver, as
well as "Guest Messages", which allows other users to operate
PersonToPerson as a "Public Messaging terminal" when the current
Macintosh is in screensaver mode. System 7 users may also make use of
"DeskSend", a drag-and-drop application that allows a user to send to
other users on the network a "dynamic link" that links back to any
file that is located on the user's Macintosh.

The download on this page is a "TwinPack", intended for connecting up
to two users on the network. It carries serial #001229/2 (this is not
required for installation). The software was captured as an 800k
DiskCopy 4.2 disk image and encoded as BinHex 4.0.
