Originally released as part of a collection of tools for developers in
May 1985, the AppleTalk Peek Program is a tool that allows you to
monitor AppleTalk packet traffic on a single AppleTalk network. It can
detect certain errors, measure packet arrive times, and display packet
data. It has a packet queue that allows a "large number" of packets to
be stored.
Download contains AppleTalk Peek version 3.0 from October, 1985. The
attached documentation includes information on version 2.0, but they
versions are very similar.
There is also a companion program, AppleTalk Poke that allowed you to
create and send AppleTalk packets. It is included in the "AppleTalk
Tools" archive which comes from the '92 developer CD. It also contains
a newer version of Peek.
