The first 4 downloads are the images from the 4 disks that came with
the Macintosh Portable model 5126. The disks are quite rare and I
couldn't find any images on the web, so I bought them. And now they've
been brought over to you. ![Wink][1]

DL#1: Includes the Apple Tour of the Macintosh Portable. The disk
image will mount on any desktop, given that you've downloaded StuffIt
Expander first (or [StuffIt Deluxe][2]) but you will only be able to
play the tour on the Macintosh Portable computer.

DL#2 This is the Inside the Macintosh Portable HyperCard stack. It was
designed to let you know a bit more about the computer itself. It
explains how the computer is a Macintosh but also a Portable. There
are nice details about the active matrix display (pictured) and about
the external video adapter which unfortunately never went on sale...

DL#3 This is the Macintosh Portable Product Sampler. It contains
information about apps that were specifically made for the Portable.
This software from 1990 is very good, probably we've evolved that
much, software speaking.

DL#4 This is the Portable update for the m5126. On this disk you get
an updated version 1.3 "Portable" control panel. Using that, you can
now adjust the brightness on that magnificent backlighted screen.

DL#5 Archive.sit lets you download the 4 images as a single file.

NOTE about the downloads above:
The files here were created using [DiskDup+][3], this created the
floppy images. But also StuffIt Deluxe because .image files can get
corrupted while transfer.

We would like to thank everybody from 68kmla.org for their help these
past years. Consider this as a gift.

ENJOY !

DL#6 Same content as DL#4 (for the 5126 Backlit Portable) but also
includes v1.3.1 of the "Portable" control panel. v1.3.1 was created by
opening v1.3 in ResEdit and making a single byte change in PTCH ID 3
at address 2B (hex). ([Details here][4].) That change eliminates a
"pop" sound that occurs every 10 seconds through the speaker or
headphone jack. This only fixes the problem when using System 6
because System 7 uses the Brightness control panel instead of the
Portable control panel.

NB: Although the SE/30 computer used to make the screenshots uses a
French version of SSW 7, the files are in English.
