Benchmarking and hardware testing app that is great for, among other
things, testing if your Mac OS 9 install is being able to use AltiVec
or not, such as after using a G4 CPU upgrade card.

AltiVec requires a G4 (or G5) processor, although you can always use
the [AltiVec Emulator][1] even if you have an earlier PowerPC
processor.

This software calls itself "Parallel Fractal Demo" and is also of
interest and works for non-AltiVec computers. It is very mature and
provides a lot of different options. Give a try!

Compatibility
Architecture: PPC (Carbonized)

AltiVec is only supported in Mac OS 9 (and Mac OS X), although a
special edition of Mac OS 8.6 intended for the Sawtooth provides
incomplete, partial AltiVec support. However, if using the AltiVec
Emulator, then Mac OS 8.1 and later can work, although leveraging the
regular, slower CPU instead.
