                Altair Basic Programs
           Compiled By Michael O'Malley

This Apple 2 disk image contains a bunch of ancient Basic
programs for the 1975 Altair Computer - the first easily
affordable Personal Computer.

In March 2002, I went through a bunch the old Altair programs
I had collected off the internet, and adapted these for the
Apple 2 computer, debugged them, tidied them up, improved
the screen I/O, and uploaded them to an Apple 2 disk image
for use with Apple 2 emulators.

Almost all of these old Altair programs were riddled with
dozens of errors - logic, run time, and syntax errors !

N.B. These were errors - and NOT differences
    between the Apple 2 and Altair Basic !!

I fixed many dozens of errors in these programs, but I
do not believe for a second that I fixed them all.

I didn't want to spend days doing this.

So, it is highly likely that these programs are still far
from perfect !!

I have never owned or used a real Altair.

But, I still thought the programs were worth preserving.

I have many other Altair programs, but these are the best.
Most of the rest are too Altair specific to make them worth
transferring.

I have included the text files containing the final
Apple 2 Basic code inside the distribution ZIP file.

I would like to thank the authors of the Apple Oasis
emulator which made transferring these files to an
Apple 2 disk image so easy.  Thanks guys !!
