movements of the suspicious-looking individual and the maze), so the
solution may vary from game to game.

>take coin

The suspicious-looking individual enters the area from the south.
The boulder slams shut.
Swifter than you can react, the dark garbed man pins your arms behind you and
in one fluid motion brings his stiletto up to your throat. As you feel the
pressure of the cold steel against your neck he speaks in a hoarse, barely
audible whisper saying: "I've noticed you've taken quite an interest in some
of the valuables scattered about on this island. What I want to know, is why?"
How do you wish to respond(type the number of your choice)?
1. I'm simply trying to get rich.
2. I'm collecting these artifacts for a museum.
3. I only wish to restore them to the temple, where they belong.
"Well, at least you're honest about your greed. " he replies. "It may be
for the best to get them away from here. " He continues as he pulls the knife
from your throat. "You see long ago, on this very island lived a powerful, yet
cruel, deity. The villagers who used to live here, built a temple in His honor
and would bring Him their riches from which He could draw power; the more
wealth He amassed the more powerful He became. After many years of this, a
neighboring tribe, hearing of the riches that filled the temple, began to make
raids on the island. To combat this, the islanders began devoting their riches
to warfare, rather than the deity. He became jealous. Out of anger He caused
the volcano to erupt, burying the village under lava and destroying much of the
temple.
"The raiders had protection from their own gods and so there was nothing to
stop the raiders from looting the island of its wealth. With His energy-giving
riches gone and no worshipers to replenish them, this island's god quickly lost
power. However, He did not die.
"That is why I am here. I belong to an ancient order, devoted to ridding
the world of evil powers such as this deity. Obviously, I am here to destroy
Him once and for all.
"He is weakened now, but he still has some powers. Exactly what, I'm not
certain, but may have the power to control minds or manipulate time and space.
This medallion will block His powers and keep him from controlling you. It is
one of the ones used by the raiders to protect them from His wrath as they
looted the temple. Very few of these remain. Wear it at all times; if I see
you without it, I can only assume you are under His power and will respond
appropriately.
"Your greed can serve a purpose. I want you to go ahead and take all of the
valuables from the island. For, you see, if enough wealth were to be placed
onto the central altar and His true name were to be spoken aloud, He would be
able to return to full strength. Without the other gods to stop Him, He would
be, well, unstoppable. I have gone to lengths to insure that no record of His
name remains, but to be safe, it would be best if the valuables were to be
taken as far away from here as possible.
"To aid you in your task, use that crystal ball. It guides people to what
they want. But be careful. It is a treasure of this island, and as such, will
try to work for His purposes.
"Oh, to open the boulder from the inside, just say, 'emases nepo.'"
>say "emases nepo"
Okay, "emases nepo."
Responding like magic the boulder moves aside revealing a passage to the south.
