Solution file for At Wit's End, V1.0.


This file does not contain the specific steps (ie, N.E.CUT ROPE WITH KNIFE.)
to solve this game.  It contains the solutions in verbose mode.  :)  If you
have questions, are stuck, want to provide feedback, want to submit a
bug list, etc, please send me a note at [email protected].

Note that the following solution is also contained in the Hint system, though
not all at once.  If you haven't tried the hint system, I recommend that you
do.  Otherwise, read on and enjoy!

Fenway Park:

The goal is to hit the game winning home run.  You need to know the pitch and
location before you swing.  This is done by examining the catcher.































Trainer's Room:

Let Charlie help you.  You're only here for several moves before being
transported to the ambulance.































Ambulance: (before crash)

Let Jason do his thing.  You need to wait 8 or so turns.

Ambulance: (after crash)

The stretcher should have rolled out the back, but the brake is preventing
that.  Get the IV pole and unlock the brake with it.  Enjoy the ride.




























Stretcher:

You can't remove the bottom strap, but your Swiss army knife should come
in handy at this point.
































Beach area:

You need to open the gate by unlocking the padlock.  This is done by using
the awl to pick the padlock.































House:

Find a way into the house.  Oh, okay, wait for Tommy and Bobby to do their
thing.































Trunk:

Be patient and wait out the ride.  There's nothing to do here.
































Cabin:

You need to cut the ropes when Bobby and Tommy leave.  This is done by putting
your Swiss army knife in the appropriate pocket (if you entered the house with
it in your front pocket, you need to put it in your back pocket; if you entered
the house with it in your back pocket, you need to put it in your front pocket.
You do this when you have a minute in the bathroom.

Once you can reach the knife, you can cut the ropes and start roaming the house.

The main goal is to leave in the boat docked in the back yard.  This is a multi-
stage puzzle and I've broken out the main puzzles below.























Boat key puzzle:
The key is in the boat cabin.  You need a light source which in this game, is
the portable TV (requires 4 batteries).  You'll find a battery in the alarm
clock in the bedroom, in the flashlight in the cellar, and two are in the radio
in the barn.






























Boat gas puzzle:
The gas is in the barn.  Use the ladder to enter through the window.  The gas
container is too large to fit through the window, so here are the steps you
need to take to get gas out of the barn.  There are two bottles in the
recycling bin.  Get the rope and the chair.  Get the funnel from the boat.
Once in the barn, fill the two bottles with gas.  Move the crate under the
window.  Put the chair on the crate.  Cut the rope and tie each piece to the
bottle. Be sure to put the cap back on the bottle.  While standing on the
chair, lower the bottles out the window.  Presto, you have gas! Easy, eh?


























Light stanchion:
By 3:30 pm or so, it's getting dark (due to the storm).  If you walk by
the light pole, you'll trigger the motion detector.  You need to get close
to the lights (use the ladder) and throw a heavy object at each light.  You
can use the coke/beer cans, batteries, knife, etc.  Once the lights are
broken, you can head toward the boat.  If you set off the lights, it'll only
be a matter of time before Jimmy hunts you down.




























Diabetic problem:
You need to eat once.  The pizza will do. It'll taste better heated (though,
not when it's too hot!)
































Boat Puzzle:

Get the gas.  Get the key.  Break the lights so Jimmy won't come get you.
Fill the gas tank with gas and start the boat.  Move the throttle to slow
and you'll be on your way.






























Surviving the Storm:

You need to put the boat in neutral or turn it off.  Go down into the cabin
and close the hatch.  You need the TV to close the hatch since it's the only
light source available.






























Private Island:

Explore the island; you'll eventually meet Godzilla (don't worry, it's only
a beagle) and Joe.  Go with Joe.































Estate:
Eat, drink, call your family.  Wait for Joe to come back.

































Plane:
Once Joe has his heart attack, you need to jump out of the plane with a
parachute.  If you want to save Joe, it'll take some work.  Tie the radio
receiver cord to one of the cords on Joe's parachute.  Jump out of the plane
with Joe and while holding the radio receiver cord.  While free falling, drop
Joe and then pull the receiver cord.  Pull your cord (each one) and you should
get the optimum ending.
