THE DISTRICT

This district covers most of Winnebago County and part of Outagamie County. It includes the city of Omro, the village of Winneconne, a portion of Fox Crossing and the southern quarter of Oshkosh. This is a likely Republican district.

THE NUTSHELL

Nate Gustafson, R-Fox Crossing, faces Democrat Kyle Kehoe, of Oshkosh. Gustafson, who was moved into the district and defeated incumbent Rep. Michael Schraa, was elected in 2022 and has advocated for younger Republican candidates like himself to step up. Gustafson also has a long list of endorsements, including former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. He serves on the committees on Judiciary, State Affairs, Labor and Integrated Employment, Ways and Means, and Regulatory Licensing Reform, where he is the vice chair. He was also appointed chair to the Speaker’s Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. Gustafson is favored to win due to the partisan composition of the district.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Gustafson defeated Schraa by a double-digit margin in a primary pitting two GOP incumbents against each other. He will face Kehoe who didn’t have a primary opponent.
