Wisconsin Democrat Tammy Baldwin has introduced 401 bills since becoming a U.S. senator in 2013, including seven signed into law, according to the independent Govtrack.us.

Congress.gov shows 494 bills sponsored.

The most recently adopted Baldwin bill, enacted in 2020, created criminal penalties for unauthorized access of certain student loan information, according to Govtrack.

The bill most recently sponsored by Baldwin, introduced March 21, 2024, would reauthorize the Commission on Farm Transitions, a planning body on the future of agriculture.

Republican Eric Hovde, who is challenging Baldwin in the 2024 election, said in a March 21 radio interview that Baldwin has never authored any legislation as a U.S. senator.

Hovde’s campaign did not offer evidence to Wisconsin Watch to support his claim.

Baldwin’s campaign cited a different measure. It said Baldwin led or co-led 68 bills that became law directly or as part of other legislation.
