It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

The Hmong American Women’s Association hosts a monthly gathering for Hmong LGBTQ+ adults to connect and share stories. This month’s gathering is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at 3030 W. Highland Blvd. RSVP here.
The annual Vel R. Phillips Trailblazer Award recognizes a female Milwaukee resident who works to better her community. The deadline to nominate someone for this award is Friday, Feb. 24.
3. Culture exhibition of African American music and arts: Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25
The Institute for the African American Preservation of Music and Arts presents a weekend of culture and art from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3200 W. Hampton Ave. RSVP for the free event here.

4. Community meeting on changes in Jackson Park: Saturday, Feb. 25
The Milwaukee County Parks plans to narrow the roadway through Jackson Park to make room for a bike and pedestrian trail. County supervisors are looking for feedback on the plan at this community meeting from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Milwaukee Spanish Immersion School, located at 2765 S. 55th St.
5. Grocery giveaway: Saturday, Feb. 25
Dream Team United MKE and partners will be giving away groceries from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at New Hope Youth and Family Services, located at 3248 W. Brown St.
BONUS: Fashion show at Sherman Phoenix: Sunday, Feb. 26
The Classic Shoppe is celebrating seven years by organizing a fashion show at the Sherman Phoenix. The show runs from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3536 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.
