It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

Walker’s Point Center for the Arts is opening its newest exhibition, “Music to My Fingers.” The exhibition is a collection of fiber art work by Abigail Engstrand “connecting to music while looking at musical and performing artists at work.” The exhibition runs until March 31, but the opening exhibition happens from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 at Walker’s Point Center for the Arts, located at 839 S. 5th St.

Metcalfe Park Community Bridges has organized a “mutual aid shed” where Metcalfe Park residents can get items such as clothing, cleaning supplies and diapers. The shed is open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at 2620 N. 34th St.

3. Conversation on Black public health: Saturday, Jan. 21

Health Connections Inc. is hosting a series of community conversations to provide updated health information. Learn about Black health needs and gather feedback on how to reduce racial disparities in health outcomes. This week’s conversation will take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Center Street Nail Technology Academy, located at 3819 W. Center St.

4. Winter coat drive: Saturday, Jan. 21

Voces de la Frontera has organized a coat drive where you can drop off or pick up gently used winter clothing for men, women and children. The drive will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Voces de la Frontera office, located at 1027 S. 5th St.

5. Amani United housing and economic development meeting: Saturday, Jan. 21

Join Amani United and neighborhood partners to discuss housing issues and economic development strategies for the Amani neighborhood. Bethany Sanchez from Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council will give a presentation about housing in Milwaukee. The meeting takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2927 N. 26th St.

This monthly pop-up market featuring Black-owned businesses returns to Sherman Phoenix from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3536 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.

Young people ages 12 to 16 years old are invited to “youth night” hosted by the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition. At this event, youths will create collages based on the question “who are we without our dreams and desires?” The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at 5235 S. 27th St. Materials will be provided.
