It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

Get your Black Friday shopping done while supporting local businesses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25 at Sherman Phoenix, located at 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave.

2. Harambee small business crawl: Saturday, Nov. 26

Riverworks Development Corporation has organized themed tours of Harambee through November. This weekend’s tour covers Harambee’s small businesses and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26. This tour will be co-lead by the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District No. 8. and Brew City Match. Register to attend for free here. Once you’ve completed your registration, you will be notified via email about the logistics, such as where to meet up and parking information. If you do not use email, provide your phone number when registering.

3. The Groove Lounge at Coffee Makes You Black: Saturday, Nov. 26

Coffee Makes You Black’s monthly concert series continues this month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2803 N. Teutonia Ave. Tickets are $10. More information about performances and purchasing tickets can be found here.

4. Deadline to submit to teen art contest: Saturday, Nov. 26

Milwaukee Public Library’s teen art contest is accepting applications through Saturday, Nov. 26. Winners of the contest receive gift cards to Blick Art Materials, and all who participate will receive a free scholarship to TBEY Arts Center covering the cost of art classes at the studio, mentorship performances and more. 5. Blackity Black holiday market and “The Hip Hop Nutcracker”: Saturday, Nov. 26

Shop at Black-owned businesses for holiday gifts this weekend and see a performance of “The Hip Hop Nutcracker,” a remix of the classic holiday play incorporating contemporary dance and a short set with Kurtis Blow. The afternoon Black-owned business market is free to attend and includes over 40 businesses. It takes place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center, located at 929 N. Water St. Tickets for the show start at $45 and include one hour of private shopping at the market from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center.
