It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Deadline to submit comments on WE Energies proposed rate hike: Monday, Nov. 7
We Energies seeks to raise rates by starting in January. You can submit comments in favor or against this plan through Monday, Nov. 7. These comments will be read by the Public Service Commission, which has the power to approve or deny the rate increase. Submit comments here.
2. An evening with Ebony LaDelle: Monday, Nov. 7
Ebony LaDelle is the author of “Love Radio,” a book celebrating “Black love, Black teenagers, Black friendship, and the Black family.” RootedMKE and Boswell Book Company are hosting an evening with LaDelle to discuss themes from the book. Child care and kids activities will be provided. The free event runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at The Table, located at 3970 N. 54th St.
3. Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 8
It’s Election Day again. See what’s on your ballot here and find your in-person polling place here. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, but if you are in line by 8 p.m. you will still be able to vote. If you are unsure if you are registered to vote or if you are registered at your current address, bring a government ID such as a driver’s license or state identification card with your current address or mail from a utility company, bank statement or one of the “Acceptable proof of residence documents” listed here. Wisconsin has same-day voter registration. Your absentee ballot must be received by your municipal clerk no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day.
4. Keefe Avenue safety task force meeting: Thursday, Nov. 10
Riverworks MKE has organized monthly meetings for residents and business owners near Keefe Avenue in and around Williamsburg Heights on the topic of neighborhood safety every second Thursday. This month’s discussion takes place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 3501 N. 6th St. More information here.
Representatives from the Bronzeville Center for the Arts and the Centre for the Less Good Idea, an arts incubator based in Johannesburg, South Africa, discuss methods and the importance of supporting community-based arts as a tool for resisting gentrification. This free event starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 at The Warehouse Art Museum, located at 1635 W. St. Paul Ave.
BONUS: Deaf Stories Project StorySlam: Wednesday, Nov. 9
Ex Fabula hosts its fourth annual “Deaf Stories Project StorySlam,” a collection of true, personal stories told in American Sign Language on the theme “Explosive Encounters.” There will be spoken English translators available for those who are not fluent in American Sign Language. Doors open at 6 p.m. and stories begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Anodyne Coffee in Walker’s Point, located at 224 W. Bruce St.
