New video highlights the critical role of evaluation at WHO [1]
[]
Date: 2025-08
A new animated video, Evaluation: Building Trust, Driving Impact, has been launched to strengthen WHO’s evaluation culture and promote understanding of the vital role evaluation plays across the Organization.
The short film dispels common myths, showing that evaluation is a critical tool for learning, accountability, transparency, and strategic improvement. Unlike audits, which focus on compliance, evaluations help WHO understand what’s working, what needs adjustment, and how to use resources more effectively.
The video emphasizes evaluation as a collaborative, forward-looking process that informs decisions, identifies good practices, and supports better planning, especially at the country level. Through independent, rigorous assessments, evaluations build trust with Member States, partners, and donors by demonstrating value for money and improving program delivery.
It also showcases recent evaluations spanning key areas such as health emergencies, noncommunicable diseases, WHO’s disability policy, and water, sanitation and hygiene.
By sharing findings and lessons learned, evaluations empower stakeholders to make evidence-informed decisions and strengthen WHO’s collective impact.
