Regional consultations on the interim report of the WHO Expert Advisory Group (EAG) on the relevance and effectiveness of the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel (The Code) have been scheduled in two WHO regions, as requested by Member States in the decision of the 78th World Health Assembly. Planning is underway for the four other regions and will be announced in the coming months.

The Americas Regional Office is conducting its consultation from 23-25 July in Brasilia, Brazil. The South East Asia Regional Office conducted its consultation from 3-4 July in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Health Workforce team is updating EAG members on the health workforce agenda at the planned regional consultations, as decided by the 156th WHO Executive Board. The Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly marked the 15-year anniversary of The Code's adoption. The consolidated report on the WHO Code includes reporting on implementation of The Code by a record 105 countries and also includes the findings and interim recommendations of the Third Expert Advisory Group, including Article 9.5 on the Code’s relevance, effectiveness and text.
