The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with UNICEF, UNFPA, and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), will host a global webinar to launch the Implementation Guidance on Transitioning to Midwifery Models of Care.
Panelists will share real-world examples of what midwifery models of care can look like in diverse settings, highlighting their benefits and the key factors for successful implementation.
About the guidance
This new guidance supports health system leaders, policymakers, government officials, and partners in providing:
A structured transition framework and assessment tool
Evidence-based practices to inform policy and planning
Support for countries at any stage of transition
Key highlights include:
Directions for integrating midwifery care into national and subnational health systems
A flexible approach adaptable to countries at different stages of transition
Emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and system-wide coordination
Practical tools for improving health outcomes, well-being and advancing equity
Support for scaling cost-effective, people-centered care
Whether your country is taking its first steps toward adopting midwifery models of care or accelerating progress in existing systems, this guidance is designed to meet you where you are, and help you move forward.
The panel discussion will be followed by Q&As.
Interpretation will be available in French and Russian.
