Global Disability Summit 2025 [1]
[]
Date: 2025-04-02
Persons with disabilities represent 16% of the global population and experience a range of health inequities, including premature deaths, poorer health outcomes, and higher disease risk when compared to the general population. The health inequities experienced by persons with disabilities are due to unfair and avoidable factors within and beyond health systems, such as lack of access to quality and affordable health services, societal stigma, or discrimination in health services.
The Global Disability Summit 2025, organized by the Government of Jordan, the Government of Germany, and the International Disability Alliance, will take place on 2-3 April 2025 in Berlin, Germany. This Summit, which happens only once every three years, will represent a key opportunity to catalyse the political prioritization needed to advance health equity for persons with disabilities. Together, heads of states and governments, ministers of health, heads of agencies and international organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities, private sector stakeholders, civil society leaders, and academic partners will discuss and make commitments for a disability inclusive future.
The programme features a main session entitled “Health for all: Transforming health-systems and ensuring health equity for persons with disabilities” which will aim to:
Discuss the transformative shifts required to achieve health for all,
Put the rights of persons with disabilities at the centre of public health,
Address accessibility and affordability of health care for persons with disabilities, and
Ensure representative organizations of persons with disabilities are at the heart of the current public health shifts.
More resources will be published soon on this webpage.
