Webinar series - Accelerating Progress for 2025 and Beyond: Improving nutrition through bold action in health, food and social protection systems [1]

[]

Date: 2024-11-18

Dates: 18 to 21 November 2024

Organizers: The webinars are hosted by WHO, UNICEF, and SUN Movement

Background

2025 is set to be a landmark year for advancing nutrition and well-being. Significant global events will take place offering pivotal opportunity to accelerate nutrition initiatives. The Paris Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit, hosted by the Government of France from 27-28 March will build upon the momentum from the successful 2021 Tokyo Summit. The World Health Assembly in May will consider the potential extension of the Global Nutrition Targets to 2030. The United Nations General Assembly in September will mark the final year for the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025). And the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Global Gathering in November will provide a crucial platform for countries, donors, and civil society to agree upon investments and coordination in nutrition. These events will shape the global nutrition agenda for 2025 and beyond.

The Paris N4G and SUN Global Gathering will galvanize commitments from governments, civil society, philanthropic foundations, the private sector, donor agencies, and the UN to end malnutrition in all its forms. Many of these commitments will focus on accelerating efforts to reach the WHA Global Nutrition Targets.

On 18-21 November, WHO, UNICEF and SUN will host a webinar series to drive ambitious and impactful country actions by:

Highlighting the current progress, identifying barriers to achieving the Global Nutrition Targets by 2025, and presenting the suggested extension of the WHA Global Nutrition Targets to align with the 2030 agenda.

Showcasing best practice examples from countries to inspire others in their journey to commitment-making.

Focusing attention on high-impact interventions needed to improve nutrition.

Describing key resources that countries can use to address the priority topics relevant to the scope of Paris N4G and SUN Global Gathering in 2025.

Join us for the opening of the week! We will hear from key experts and lay out the foundation and commitment needed to tackle malnutrition in all its forms.
