Let’s make access to hearing aid services a reality for all! [1]

[]

Date: 2024-03-21

One of the targets for scaling up ear and hearing care by 2030 is to increase by 20% the effective coverage of persons with hearing loss that need hearing technology for their rehabilitation.

To support countries in this process, WHO is launching a new publication titled the “Hearing aid service delivery approaches for low- and middle-income settings”. This document forms a part of the WHO set of technical resources available for countries and partners to integrate ear and hearing care within primary health care.

This tool is intended for use by people who plan to implement a community level programme for the delivery of hearing aid services. It provides guidance on important factors to be considered and is based on the task sharing concept through the training of non-specialists for them to provide hearing aids and related services.

This document targets 2 population groups:

children aged older than 5 years, and

adults

The approaches provide directions on who should be fitted with a hearing aid; the process of assessment; the resources to be used; and the protocol for follow-up.

The webinar will focus on:

introduction to the hearing aid service delivery approaches

examples of implementation

experience sharing

We welcome you to join and learn more about this new WHO resource and share your local experiences in the field.

When: 21 March 2024 13:00–14:30 CET.
