High-level event: Trans fat elimination validation ceremony [1]
[]
Date: 2024-01-29
Join the WHO Department of Nutrition and Food Safety for a ceremony to recognize the first five countries that have demonstrated to have best-practice trans fat elimination policy and monitoring and enforcement mechanisms in place to eliminate trans fats from the food supply. The event will take place on the periphery of the WHO Executive Board meeting, on 29 January 2024, with validation certificates awarded, for the first time, to Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
The event will consist of three distinct parts: the award ceremony, during which the validation certificates will be granted to the five countries, followed by two sessions, one to celebrate the best-practice policies and achievements by the five countries, and the second session to trace the road ahead, inspire and accelerate progress towards trans fat elimination with the panelists from the countries making consistent efforts to protect their population from the harmful impacts of industrially produced trans fat. The ceremony will be moderated by Dr Francesco Branca, Director of the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety, WHO.
Register to join the award ceremony, learn about the best-practice policies, hear about the road ahead to accelerate progress towards trans fat elimination and be the first to learn about the main findings and progress summary of the 5-Year final REPLACE report. WHO and Resolve to Save Lives, a not-for-profit organization, collaborate to support the implementation of the REPLACE action package, which provides a strategic approach to eliminating industrially produced trans fat from national food supplies.
