Long-term care forum session 11: Infection prevention and control in long-term care facilities
07 December 2022, 10-11:30 am CET
Background: Noting the impact of COVID-19 on long-term care systems and noting WHO Europe’s 3 core priorities of progressing towards universal access to quality care, protecting people against health emergencies, and ensuring better health and well-being at all ages, the WHO Regional Office for Europe will be sharpening its focus on identifying key priorities for strengthening LTC services in the WHO European Region. The Regional Office is therefore convening a country-driven forum on implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in long-term care service delivery to explore and reflect on measures that are being pursued in countries to ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors and personnel.
Objectives:
To serve as a platform for exchange that can support countries through the sharing of experiences, strategies and solutions for the implementation of IPC measures in the context of LTC; To present the minimum requirements of IPC programmes for LTC settings and the status of its implementation in the European Region; To share countries experiences regarding the implementation of IPC measures in LTC in the context of COVID-19, including compassionate use of IPC measures in LTC. To use the opportunity of the webinar to enhance in-country and regional collaboration on IPC in LTC.
