The World Health Organization (WHO) is delighted to be a member of the Core Organizing Group of the sixth International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) to be held in Thailand from 14-17 November 2022.
WHO’s participation is led by the Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, which includes the UNDP-UNFPA-UNICEF-WHO-World Bank Special Programme of Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) and by the IBP Network. HRP is currently celebrating 50 years of impact strengthening sexual and reproductive health and rights across the globe, .
ICFP is the world’s largest scientific conference on family planning and reproductive health. This will be the first opportunity for researchers and practitioners to meet since the last conference in 2018 and the onset of COVID-19. Participants will discuss various themes including universal health coverage and family planning, gender equality, reproductive rights, quality of care, advances in contraceptive technology and advances in monitoring and evaluation. Through WHO’s parliamentary engagement activities, they will also discuss ways to collaborate with decision-makers to translate those priorities into political action.
Opening ceremony
WHO staff and partners will be participating in a number of events throughout the conference including a message at the Opening Ceremony from WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and keynote addresses by SRH/HRP Director Professor Pascale Allotey.

IBP Network:
Of particular importance will be the launch of the new 2022 edition of the Family Planning Handbook. This handbook provides the latest guidance and resources on contraceptive methods to healthcare professionals in low and middle-income countries.
