New Orleans Book Festival brings big talent [1]

New Orleans celebrates renowned authors and their contributions to culture and literacy with the annual New Orleans Book Fest hosted at Tulane University’s Uptown campus.

The festival kicks off this evening (March 9), and runs through Saturday.

The lineup includes renowned local and national authors such as Sarah M. Broom, Malcolm Gladwell, and Elizabeth Alexander, scholars including Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Annette Gordon-Reed, and Imani Perry and veteran journalists Jarvis DeBerry, Nikole Hannah-Jones, creator of the 1619 project, Michelle Miller of CBS Saturday Morning, April Ryan of TheGrio and Verite’s editor-in-chief Terry Baquet. In addition, Bill Gates, Darren Walker of the Ford Foundation and former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder will also be featured at the festival.

Attendees can enjoy book readings, panel discussions, workshops, and keynote speeches by some of their favorite fiction and nonfiction authors. Select authors will also be available for signings after their on-stage event.

The festival is free to attend, and event seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check out a complete schedule of events here.
