As President Biden and first lady Jill Biden welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Republic of India, the White House staff is preparing for a special evening June 22, when the Bidens will hold a state dinner to honor their guest.

For more than a century, American presidents have put diplomacy on the menu at these formal dinners. At this one, Nina Curtis, a plant-based chef from California, will be the guest chef and Grammy Award–winning American violinist Joshua Bell will provide the evening’s entertainment.
