This week, we reflect upon the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and our efforts at the U.S. Department of State to live up to his vision for a more peaceful, equitable, and just world. Dr. King’s final Christmas sermon, delivered in 1967, strikes a chord: “It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
