About Business Services at The University of Melbourne

Our Business Services function provides a full range of class leading information technology, facilities management, finance, HR and health and safety services to all operating entities of the University.

Within Business Services IT, the Strategy, Innovation and Assurance (SIA) team provides leadership of cross-functional IT management across Business Services, and the University, ensuring ‘we do the right work’ through strategy and innovation and ‘do the work right’ through governance, organizational and operational model development and performance management. SIA is responsible for functions such as IT strategy, enterprise architecture, innovation incubation, governance, technology partner management, performance management and the definition of IT ways of working.

About the Role

As Digital Product Owner, you will be part of our the Product Innovation team and will lead the continuous improvement of the digital experience for Staff Hub. You will manage and optimise key University-wide digital assets and support the development of new digital experience platforms, including intranets, websites, applications and collaboration platforms.

In this role, you will use research, human-centred design techniques and data sources to identify and coordinate initiatives aimed at improving the employee experience. This role will have a focus on employee experience, however, the nature of the University requires a boarder view of customer, to consider the experience of students and visitors.

In a typical week at work, you may:

Liaise with business stakeholders, designers and technical development teams to deliver exceptional content and user experiences

Use agile delivery methods to create, prioritise and maintain the product backlog, defining the sprint goals to deliver value for the program

Analyse and refine user or business requirements and concepts into features or content to be delivered within the iterative refinement of the user experience

Define, develop and lead implementation and continuously refine content strategy deliverables that engage University service stakeholders and users

Please note this is a full time (1FTE) fixed term role available for 12 months.

About You

You will be an engaging communicator who relates well to a wide range of stakeholders. You'll have strong influencing and leadership skills, with a proven record of steering projects, teams and clients to successful outcomes.

Ideally, you will further have:

Relevant graduate qualifications (or progress towards) and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education

Experience successfully leading digital experience change programs

Experience in developing and embedding content policies, governance frameworks, guidelines and procedural documentation in a complex environment

A keen interest in continuous improvement and seeking new ways to align processes, systems and culture to uplift and accelerate performance
