The Doherty Institute is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to establish the Doherty Clinical Trials Unit. Full-time fixed term position for 12 months.

About the Doherty Institute:

Finding solutions to prevent, treat and cure infectious diseases and understanding the complexities of microbes and the immune system requires innovative approaches and concentrated effort. This is why The University of Melbourne – a world leader in education, teaching and research excellence – and The Royal Melbourne Hospital – an internationally renowned institution providing outstanding care, research and learning – have partnered to create the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (Doherty Institute); a centre of excellence where leading scientists and clinicians collaborate to improve human health globally.

About the role:

The Doherty Institute is establishing a new facility to conduct clinician-led clinical trials. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the establishment of the Doherty Clinical Trials Unit (Doherty CTU). The Unit is being established to test drugs and vaccines in various situations within a purpose built controlled setting. The Unit is being developed to be a recognised and leader in the delivery of clinical trials specific to infectious disease research through the use of innovative practices.

This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the Doherty Institute, which has been at the forefront of Australia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a full-time fixed term position available for 12 months.

About you:

A graduate qualification in a discipline relevant to the unit’s operations

Demonstrated extensive experience in the establishment small to medium enterprises

Demonstrated innovation, initiative and/or judgement in the development and implementation of projects

Demonstrated ability to be solution-focused, anticipate and mitigate barriers/risks to achieve objectives operating within a complex network of stakeholders

Highly-developed interpersonal communication skills demonstrated through successful negotiating, consulting and influencing of diverse stakeholders

High-level ability to plan, develop and manage projects to tight timeframes, manage multiple tasks and be flexible with changing or competing priorities.
