Initiate and conduct translational research and facilitate co-creation activities within this new service innovation and research initiative launched by Barwon Health and Deakin University.
CHIME is a new service innovation and research initiative launched by Barwon Health and Deakin University, bringing people with a lived experience of mental illness, their families, carers and supporters, the mental healthcare workforce and researchers together in a sustained collaboration.
The CHIME Postdoctoral Researcher will initiate and conduct translational research and facilitate co-creation activities under the Western Alliance Flagship Program funded project: A Listening and Learning Healthcare System approach to improve outcomes for acute-care mental health consumers in the Barwon-Southwest Victoria Region. The primary aim of this project is to co-create and test interventions that will improve experience and outcomes for Victorian regional and rural mental health consumers with an initial focus on acute inpatient care.
This is a full-time fixed term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, and will be based at Barwon Health, Geelong. We welcome applications from clinician researchers and can accommodate some flexibility in work fraction should a practicing clinician be appointed into the role.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Undertake the research project outlined in the Western Alliance Flagship Project application including developing research protocols, ethics applications and project management.
Undertake training in the use the Participatory Systems tools such as STICKE and conduct training for others in the use of the tools as necessary.
Recruit and support consumer and carer participation in co-creation workshops and activities, and ensure meaningful engagement that is respectful and safe, based on best international practice for consumer and carer engagement.
Establish outcome measures and an evaluative framework to evaluate outcomes associated with the LLMHS.
Be involved in professional activities, including (subject to availability of funds) attendance at conferences and seminars in their field of expertise.
Develop data management and analysis protocols.
Analyse and disseminate quantitative and qualitative research data.
Co-supervise, or where appropriate, supervise honours or postgraduate research students and emerging clinician researchers.
Attend meetings associated with the research project(s) and attend other meetings as appropriate, such as Institute / School meetings and / or membership of a limited number of Committees.
To be successful, you’ll have:
Applicants must have been awarded a PhD in health, medicine or a related subject.
Post-doctoral research experience, which has resulted in publications, conference papers, reports, or professional or technical contributions, which give evidence of research ability.
Demonstrated skills in the coordination of data collection, data recording and analysis using statistical software such as STATA.
Experience with a range of epidemiology and biostatistics techniques.
A research track record in health or similar and a demonstrated ability to plan, initiate and conduct high quality research.
A record of peer review publications and/or conference publications.
Demonstrated organisational skills including the demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard of laboratory and data record keeping.
Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact well with research and technical staff and students.
Demonstrated excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated organisational and project management skills, including the ability to work in diverse and complex environment in a multi-disciplinary team with limited supervision.
