Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Renewable Energy and Power Systems

Full time, ongoing position

Based in Hobart

Contribute to delivering and ongoing development of courses in the School’s engineering degree programs

Independently develop research programs and activities, collaborate with industry, and demonstrate impact

The School of Engineering, which spans a diverse range of engineering streams, is part of the College of Sciences and Engineering. A major feature of the UTAS engineering programs is the emphasis placed on laboratory work, design classes and projects.

The Opportunity

The appointee will be involved in projects related to smart grids and intelligent networks, micro-grid and distributed generation including hybrid remote area power systems as well as renewable energy technologies and their integration in power grids. The research will be well integrated within the scope of the Centre for Renewable Energy and Power Systems of the School.

Key Accountabilities:

Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.

Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.

Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.

Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing.

Secure external competitive and other funding.

Publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level B / Level C.

A PhD or equivalent in electrical engineering with specialisation in Electrical Power Systems, Control Engineering, or Renewable Energy Systems.

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

Potential and preferably experience in University-level learning and teaching.

Potential and preferably a record of significant contributions to successful research higher degree supervision and completions.

A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or Level C. For Level B, the total remuneration package of up to $136,519 is comprised of base salary within the range of $100,508 to $116,683 plus 17% superannuation. For Level C, the total remuneration package of up to $161,207 is comprised of base salary within the range of $121,325 to $137,784 plus 17% superannuation.
