About the role:
We are seeking a motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our growing Ion Channels and Human Disease Laboratory. The Research Officer will work collaboratively with the wider research team to understand the molecular cellular mechanism in genetic epilepsy.
This role will see you take responsibility for a variety of tasks including:
In vitro electrophysiology experiments using transfected mammalian cells and neuronal cultures
Performing cell culture and cell manipulations
Performing electrophysiological studies using the dynamic clamp approach and establishing new research protocols and procedures
Analyzing data and present analyses in various formats
Experience in electrophysiology and using expression systems such as mammalian cell lines, cultured neurons, and/or brain slices.
Ability to take ownership of projects and manage time.
Ability to deliver results in agreed time frames and to occasionally work to deadlines

This role is full-time, fixed-term to May 2022.
This position will be paid in the range of Research Officer 1- RO1 ($83,974 per annum) to Senior Research Officer 1 -SRO1 ($94,885)
About you:
You have attained a doctoral degree in Ion Channel biophysics, membrane physiology, ion channel pharmacology or neuroscience. Alternatively, you may be experienced in pre-clinical care researcher and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
