Every March, Tennessee lawmakers take a break from the toil of legislative duties to celebrate one of the state’s largest industries: agriculture.

Ag Day on the Hill gives lawmakers — including Gov. Bill Lee, who grew up on a Williamson County farm that remains in his family — the opportunity to demonstrate their skills at milking cows, tossing hale bales and other farm chores.

Tuesday saw the crop of legislators joined by U.S. Sens. Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn and U.S. Rep. John Rose, the latter two of whom are expected to announce their 2026 gubernatorial candidacies in the near future.

Photojournalist John Partipilo again chronicled the event for the Lookout.
