Symphony Of Courage: Young Afghan Musicians Play On After Fleeing To Lisbon [1]

Afghanistan's only music school, the Afghan National Institute of Music (ANIM), has been relocated to the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, so that young musicians can continue to learn and develop. Since returning to power in 2021, the Taliban has, in practice, banned nonreligious music and stopped the education of females in secondary schools and universities. This story is based on a documentary by Voice of America: Symphony Of Courage.
