Bulgaria's Grain Drain Leaves Consumers With Low-Quality Loaves [1]

Bulgaria is expected to export more than 75 percent of its annual wheat harvest after scrapping plans to bolster its domestic grain reserves. Most of the country's high-quality wheat will go to global markets to help alleviate shortages caused by Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. But that also means Bulgarian bread will continue to be made from lower-quality grain normally used in animal feed.
