[]

Date: 2023-06

On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commemorated the author of the first Ukrainian Constitution, Hetman Pylyp Orlyk.

In particular, the Head of State laid flowers at the Hetman's monument at the intersection of Lypska and Pylyp Orlyk streets in Kyiv.

The document concluded in 1710, which went down in history as the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk, is considered the first European constitution in its modern sense. The Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk provided for the creation of the first model of a free, independent state in Europe based on the nation's innate right to freedom and self-determination. The document defines the concept of a free nation, the foundations of democracy and justice, and anti-corruption and social principles.
