The Times-Picayune is seeking an ambitious reporter to cover K-12 and higher education in New Orleans. We’re looking for a passionate journalist who can produce daily stories for print and online, as well as thoughtful enterprise coverage of the city’s public school system, the first in the nation to consist solely of charter schools. The job includes coverage of higher education institutions in the area, as well as topics of interest for children and families.

Applicants should have experience covering a beat, as well as a track record of breaking news and complex enterprise. They also should be skilled online and adept at juggling deadline stories with longer-term projects. Strong reporting skills are a must, as is a distinctive writing voice.

The Times-Picayune is a locally-owned, Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization dedicated to serving the New Orleans area. We are passionate about producing thoughtful journalism both in print and on our website, NOLA.com, and have been aggressive about growing the organization to reach more subscribers.
