The Times-Picayune, a locally owned, Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization dedicated to serving the New Orleans area, is seeking a reporter to cover St. Tammany Parish, the fastest-growing community in the metro area.

Located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, St. Tammany is one of Louisiana's fastest-growing parishes. As it continues its transition from bedroom community to economic hub, with a vibrant business and industrial base, it's overflowing with great stories for an ambitious reporter.

This reporter will be part of a three-person team covering politics, criminal-justice, education, growth & development and other issues.

Applicants should have experience covering a beat, as well as a track record of breaking news and developing complex enterprise. They should be skilled online and adept at juggling deadline stories with longer-term projects.

They should also enjoy working in a collaborative newsroom environment, and always be seeking new ways to engage readers while upholding our standards of fairness and accuracy.

The Times-Picayune is a 7-day, home-delivered newspaper with a veteran staff, many of whom have covered the New Orleans area for years. We are passionate about producing thoughtful journalism both in print and on our website NOLA.com and have been aggressive about growing the organization to reach more subscribers.

In addition to the New Orleans products, our company publishes The Advocate in Baton Rouge and The Acadiana Advocate in Lafayette, as well as their surging digital properties.
