The Advocate | The Times-Picayune is seeking a copy editor who specializes in spelling and grammar; excellent headline and cutline writing skills; and a command is experienced in AP style and standards.

The Advocate | The Times-Picayune, which is locally owned, is the largest daily newspaper in Louisiana, and publishes editions in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and the Lafayette area. Our news copy desk has become a mini-design and editing hub for our operation.

This position is based in Baton Rouge, but we are willing to consider remote candidates that match our requirements. Hours are nights and weekends.

Preferred but not required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field preferred.

Minimum 2 years copy editing experience at a daily newspaper.

Considerable knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.

Considerable knowledge of newspaper production.

Good knowledge of media production and written communication methods.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
