About OCCRP
The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) is a dynamic, growing, global nonprofit media organization that is reinventing investigative journalism for the public good. By developing and equipping a global network of investigative journalists and publishing their stories, we expose crime and corruption so the public can hold power to account. We see a future where organized crime and corruption are drastically reduced and democracy is strengthened. Our global team includes editors, researchers, data engineers, security specialists, administrators, technologists, and strategists, each with areas of in-depth expertise.
Position Overview
The new director of individual giving will join OCCRP’s entrepreneurial partnerships team to spearhead individual giving, building on significant organizational growth and diversification of funding in recent years. We are seeking an experienced lead to take OCCRP’s public giving and membership program to the next level, including the cultivation and stewardship of major gifts.
In 2020, OCCRP launched its first membership program, inviting dedicated readers to become ‘accomplices’ in OCCRP’s fight for truth and justice – significantly increasing public donations year on year. This new role will spearhead creative public campaigns in coordination with our editorial team to build on this initial success, driving serious growth of the program and cultivating relationships with new individual givers to secure and sustain meaningful major gifts.
A successful candidate for this role will bring notable experience developing and managing a portfolio of donors; shaping and driving successful public fundraising campaigns; soliciting, cultivating, and stewarding individual donors; and securing major (five-seven figure) gifts. Passion for the role of investigative journalism in combating corruption, countering disinformation, ensuring accountability, and strengthening democracy around the world is key to building support for our mission – and building public understanding of the return on investment in our work. Strong writing and communication skills are a must as well as a willingness to shift gears to help accommodate team priorities and contribute to OCCRP’s wider fundraising goals and financial strength.
